Peregrine Connecting Rods.
---------------------

We send you herewith a blueprint of Lec.3211 showing designs for Peregrine connecting rod with the oil pipe replaced by a drilling through the main section of the rod stem.

Of the three alternative designs we have made we prefer No.2. and RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} has produced a sample to this design which is also sent herewith.

The sample has been made, however, with a .156" hole instead of .187", and this also we should prefer as it enables us to close up the stem section and save weight on the stem of the rod.

We should like to know if you would anticipate any difficulty in producing rods of this pattern.

It is assumed that a special machine will be required for drilling the long hole, which has to be a clean job and free from scores.

It will be appreciated that this modification would get rid of the sweated and rivetted on tube with clips, and produces in the end a better job from a stress carrying point of view for a high speed engine.
