6071 To By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/RC.{R. Childs} c. By/RD. RE FUSES. With reference to memo By/RD.5/B.16.5.39, we have ascertained that No.37 SWG tinned copper wire will fuse at 10 amps, when used in the standard R.R. open type fuse-holder. We cannot recommend the use of an open type fuse holder for a 3 amp fuse. If copper were used the wire would only be about .003" thick; even if lead were used the wire would only be .010 inch and very easily damaged. We feel that a cartridge type fuse should be used here. We have verified that the fusing currents of 10 and 3 amperes given by the coachbuilders are correct for the respective circuits. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/RC.{R. Childs} | ||
