Hsl/LG17.3.21.

With reference to your memo. OY2/G3.3.21. I think the Switch you describe is an excellent arrangement for existing cars with Lucas Dynamos. As it appears that on this side, at any rate, we shall be using Lucas Dynamos for some time, it is worth looking into. I think you will agree, however, that the best job is to take the ignition switch off the steering column and fix in its place the Klaxon switch. It would then be necessary to incorporate the ignition switch in the lockable switch.

I have suggested to R. {Sir Henry Royce} that I see no reason why we should make our switch so as to run on Magneto and Battery separately - why not always run on both ignitions? We have had a number of complaints from customers which are simply due to the fact that they appear not to like using both ignitions together. R. {Sir Henry Royce} however, would not agree, he thought that we should retain the three positions on the switch.

I think your idea of locking off the starter and auxiliaries very good.

I think it would be a good idea when you send these switches, to try and send some figures as regards how much current they will carry so that if R. {Sir Henry Royce} criticises the contacts we can give him some facts.

On the small car, he is thinking of using a controller type switch, not pushes.
