Modifications to a distribution board, focusing on fuses, insulation, and layout to prevent short circuits.

As soon as convenient you might arrange to let me have a car here with an R.R. distribution board, in the mean time to send us one of the distribution boards with the modifications suggested by Ck.{Mr Clark} We would like to point out, however, that the fuses should be large enough not to heat only when they are going to blow. We do not want delicate fuses on this job. With regard to the insulating material of the fuse holes, can you suggest anything better ? The fuses should not be hot unless something is wrong. We must put in large enough fuse wire. With reference to Ck{Mr Clark}1/T7.2.20, I quite agree that the insulating plate should be made to cover a greater portion of the aluminium surface. It is certainly advisable to take great care to avoid the possibility of short circuits. In the R.R. distribution board all the positives are grouped together so that a short should not be serious or liable to happen. With regard to the main negative and dynamo control fuse holders being somewhat near together, can these be spread out to give more room for the fingers ? I agree to the suggestion that a pair of fuse holders should be provided in the distribution box in readiness for use. | ||
