X.4037 X.7772 X.7190 L.H. P.2. AUTO-KLEAN STRAINER DETAILS. We send herewith Lec.2800. shewing the modifications desired in connection with the auto-klean strainer. When working on this job we noticed that the details of the gland which had been somewhat copied from the auto-klean design are not likely to produce a satisfactory job, as the centring of the upper bearing of the auto-klean spindle is dependent upon two threads acting serially. The design of this part has therefore been modified as on the attached drawing. At the same time we are asking for a plug hole in the body of the strainer, so that paraffin may be injected with the idea that it will run out of the drainage plug carrying the dirt with it. We have replaced the scroll type of freewheel with a ratchet device and it is intended that the same design shall be used on both R.{Sir Henry Royce} and L.H. chassis without any modification as regards handing. The auto-klean strainer then will revolve also R.H. on whatever chassis, in the one case being moved by the pressure of the foot on the clutch pedal, and in the other case by the return pressure of the clutch spring. This will also be satisfactory in keeping the R.H. thread gland nut from coming undone. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} | ||
