X5830. SECRET. DAL/M9.5.29} BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} From DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} C. to HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} 20HP. 17-G-4. CLOSE COUPLED COUPE FOR MR; ROYCE+ X5770 X5830. Mr Royce is anxious to put a larger front cross member, and we send herewith N. sch.2888., shewing a temporary method of doing so for this particular existing car. Should proposal become permanent we shall send you a further scheme. We have made it as we hope so that it can be got in without altering anything except the cross member itself, with the exception of the forward wing stay bolt holes which we ask to be reamered out to .312". As we have made it from scrap arrangements we shall be glad if Derby will check the relative positions. We believe R.{Sir Henry Royce} is expecting this modification on the car for Whitsuntide.
