-2- RmR/R.17.6.39. We want to take advantage of these economies with the introduction of the cast iron engine units, the material for which will be ordered in February next. Will Les.{Ivan A. Leslie} forthwith see English Steel and say whether we can simplify the dies by altering the balance weight layout, and if not, put the necessary dies in hand to make 6-cyl. cranks for the cast iron engine with integral balance weights. On receipt of these and the information re disc oilers from U.S.A., the experimental will produce a model for By's approval which will then be run endurance and production quantities ordered accordingly. We still feel that the resulting total cost of the crank of £11/16/9 is too high. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} | ||
