Acting on Mr. Royce's instructions we have endeavoured to introduce some flexibility in the mounting of the present 40/50 engine on a standard chassis. We have found it very difficult to get any reliable results owing to the fact that as soon as we release the rear of the engine it is very difficult to keep it in line with the gearbox. We have gone sufficiently far to prove that introducing flexibility will reduce the amplitude of the vibration. We feel it is very desirable that a proper design should be got out to suit 40/50 chassis which will allowtorsional movement of the engine, and still retain correct alignment of the gearbox. If we get our engine and gerbox out-of-line to any degree it does causesa harsh feel on the chassis. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
