84117. To Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} From Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}5/MJ.22.12.32. X20601. SIR MALCOLM CAMPBELL'S PHANTOM 11. Replying to Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}l/E.22.12.32. We consider it an excellent idea to allow Sir Malcolm Campbell to fit a Wilson gearbox to his Phantom 11 car. We should like to take a friendly interest in it. For instance, we should like to know who is to supply the gearbox - whether it is to be made by ENV. or the Daimler. The only Wilson gearbox we know of, of the size to suit the Phantom is the one fitted on the big Daimler car. We should also like to know whether Mr. Wilson himself is interested in this experiment. Our real concern is that it would be a pity if it is a patched up job. The design should be such that it has a reasonable chance of success. We should be very glad to have an opportunity of looking at the drawings or discussing the suggested scheme in a friendly way. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}, | ||
