X8770 X5770 X8410 At the present moment we have practically completed experimental work on the designs available for chassis improvements. A summary of the position is as follows :- 40/50 HP. SUSPENSION. The semi-elliptic springs on the rear of EAC.7 are waiting for a design whereby Hartfords can be fitted in addition to the hydraulic shock absorbers. The present hydraulic shock dampers for the rear are hardly adequate for the very high damping loads required on the Continent (up to 80 lbs.up - 120 lbs. down at end of 13" lever) We understand that a design is in hand increasing the bearing area and lever strengths. 10-EX suspension has definitely benefitted by the weight of the spare wheel being carried at the back. We are therefore exceedingly anxious to try the scheme of carrying a permanent luggage box and the spare wheels at the back of the car. As far as we can see, a special design of body will be necessary to make this a feasible proposition. BRAKES. The front axle torque control has completed 70 hrs. running on the bump and we do not anticipate any serious troubles on the road. We suggest that, since when this is contd :- | ||
