Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Gib.4/MA.4. 3. 32.cont'd.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} -3- (4) The header tank will require 4 extra unions fitted to take the pipes and we suggest that the Hart tank be brought to Derby and modified and tested before fitting to the aircraft for flight tests. To satisfy ourselves that the separation has not been impaired. The tests were carried out on the meccano hangar tilted 15° nose up, on Kestrel 10S engine. All the best runs were done at full throttle using a prop to give 2150 R.P.M. The header tank was the RR tank modified to make it as near like the tank in the Hart machine as possible. The Nimrod condenser was used in conjunction with the above. During these tests the engine was opened up from cold in approx 40 secs from starting. No apparent ill effects was noticed. The water reached boiling in 3 mins. These tests on opening up will be reported on fully in due course. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/A.T.Gibson. | ||
