The reasons I have changed my views are as follows:- I found it is possible to get very much higher quality of electrical units than the samples we have so far received from Springfield. I had the impression and I believe it was general, that Springfield wished to fit to the R.R. chassis electrical units of such quality as the sample Bosch and Westinghouse which were sent over here by them. Springfield say that this was not their intention. The American Manufacturers are prepared and in some cases I found them actually making samples of specially designed units in order to satisfy us as regards quality. It is not suggested that we should reduce our standard of quality in the least. In my opinion I believe there are manufacturers of Magnetos and Generators in U?S.A. who can turn out equally as good, if not a better, quality job as either the Watford or Lucas do in England. The U.S.A. makes claim that they Contd. | ||
