To Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} from Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} Call ? STEADMAN Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Re 'Leslie Jones' - Bonnet. HWL/Bw/850 The scheme proposed is what we have on Wraith & PIII! with the exception that we build up the pieces on the chassis. We could use the scheme on B3, & B50, exactly as patented if we desired to do so, but there appears to be several doubtful features. ① The rear open end will parallelogram unless bolted to the dash or its equivalent on the body. ② The whole unit would appear to have a very small torsional rigidity without triangular stays from the dash armature to the radiator yoke at the top. ③ The scheme pre-supposes a short american or Rover wing only! ④ The side plate of the unit does not appear to be easily designed to be capable of carrying the cantilever wing-stays. The scheme we shall have to use for B50. will be very similar to this, but we had not contemplated the idea of unit removal. | ||
