Messrs. Hardy Spicer Ltd.,
Birch Road,
Witton,
Birmingham.

For the attention of Mr. Daniels.

Dear Sirs,

We are returning to you your 2 Bentley propellor shafts, one 2 3/4" diameter, the other 3" diameter.

Although we need the larger diameter shaft to prevent whirling, we do not like the larger universal joints. Will you please therefore build up a shaft 3" in diameter, having the universal joints from the 2 3/4" diameter shaft. We also require the joint flanges made so that the complete shaft will exactly replace our own propellor shaft.

We enclose detail drawings of our propellor shaft flanges and also an arrangement drawing. You will note that the universal joint has to fit inside a damper at the sliding joint end.

Yours faithfully,

FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED.
