EXPERIMENTAL WORK.

Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} has mentioned that you are agreeable to having a technical official whose sole job will be liaison between Derby and W.W.

We welcome this scheme very much because we are certain it will straighten out a lot of our difficulties. If the man who is appointed deals solely with Expl. work we think he will havea whole time job. It is almost impossible by reports, to convey the complete information in a form which it can be understood. There is always a tremendous lot of negative information which is never reported on at all. Quite a lot of work is done and quite a lot of instructions we receive from W.W. are overlapped by results of experiments or later instructions, which makes it very difficult indeed for us to carry out work on the lines you wish.

If we can get someone to spend half their time at Derby and half at W.W. we are certain that we should be able to please you better, and more use would be made of the work which is done at Derby. The man we recommend as most suitable for this job is Mr. Tresilian. He has been doing very similar work for Rg.{Mr Rowledge} but Rg.{Mr Rowledge} agrees that he will release him. Tsn. is also more interested in car work than the aero engine side.

Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}
