BENTLEY AND 25/30 HP. CHASSIS.

As a result of the Conference held this morning on the subject of Bentley big end failures, it has been decided that we shall immediately the material is available change from HL's bearing alloy, which we are using at the moment for the connecting rod bearings to RR.56, using RR.56 shims.

Will the Order Office kindly obtain at once a supply of material to cover our present requirements. It appears we need 200 feet of the material at once in 2 3/4", and possibly following that we could have a further 400 ft. in 2 3/4", which has been produced by rolling down the 3 1/4" bar which is available.

To prevent misunderstanding it is appreciated that the 25/30 is using a similar alloy, but apparently the combination of white metal main bearings with the lower duty enables the big end bearing to get sufficient lubrication to satisfactorily stand up to the work in HL's bearing metal alloy, and it is therefore not proposed to alter the 25/30 at present.
