X634 BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} FROM DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} C. to SG.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}1/M4. 6.32. 25 HP. TORSIONALLY FLEXIBLE JOINT IN TRANSMISSION. X.5310 X.634 Herewith we send N. sch. 3482. shewing the proposed torsionally flexible joint behind the gearbox. Except for the slight grinding out of the 3rd. motion shaft to receive the bearings the gearbox is unaltered. The same applies to the propeller shaft, but one fork in the universal joint is modified. In addition to this we are sending immediately a suggestion for a similar flexible joint itself, and also a Hardy fabric coupling in the place of the present forward universal joint.
