V4050 Expl: Dept: c. to BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} c. to ROY.{Sir Henry Royce} 7th. Dec. 1928. HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}2/LG. Messrs. The Dunlop Rubber Co., Fort Dunlop, Erdington, Birmingham. Dear Sirs, For the attention of Mr. Paull. You will remember that we were preparing to test on our 40/50 HP. car in France, 6.75" 'Fort' silent tread tyres and 'Super' tyres for 21" rims (ref. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}8/LG5.10.28) You stated in your W3/LWS.4.10 of 4th.Oct. that you would write us on the subject of delivery. We have as yet heard nothing definite. It is too late now for us to run our proposed test on a full set of 'Super' tyres, but we still require two of these tyres and two silent tread 'Fort' tyres for the purpose of ascertaining whether these tyres are suitable for recommending to special customers. We shall be glad to hear further from you on the subject of delivery so that we may pass you our official order. You will recollect also our conversation with regard to tyre wear. We are still far from satisfied with the 'non-skid' life of our standard 40/50 HP. silent tread tyre, and should like to try out your proposed modification in which the depth and width of the pattern is increased without altering the tyre rolling diameter. From the complaints of customers during the recent wet spell we regard this matter as of primary importance. Yours faithfully, | ||
