bearing surface.

8 Engine Gears. - The camshaft wheel is .002" undersize in tooth thickness, and was so as originally fitted. We think the limit should be on the plus side rather than on the minus, as when the crankshaft bearings are re-bedded to take up wear, it reduces the centre between the crankshaft and camshaft.
This does not allow the gears to have a second lease of life after taking up wear in the crankshaft bearings.

9 Governor. - The thrust race U.442. is badly pitted.

10 Fan. - A considerable amount of slack exists in the first portion of the large ball bearing housing.

Sphere. - The universal joint and the sphere show no appreciable amount of wear.

11 Engine Controls. - The throttle control spindle is very slack in the two bronze bushes which are carried in the aluminium bracket E.22227. The intermediate bracket U.1637 for the throttle control loose in its bearing.

Gearbox. - The whole of the gearbox is in first class condition.

12 Front Axle. - The ball end for the top steering arm is pitted rather badly, and the same applies to the corresponding contact pieces.

Pivot Pins and Bushes. - These are all O.K.

13 Brake Drum. - The offside footbrake drum is scored rather badly.

Report re Inefficient Footbrake.

In re-erecting the shoes we are setting them according to our latest practice, and when the chassis is re-erected and tested again note will be taken whether any improvement has taken place.

14 Actuating Shaft Leathers. - The press button studs on one of these covers pulled out of the leather when dismantling.

15 Magneto. - The gears on the magneto are distinctly noisy. This Magneto was changed when we had a run approximately 7,000 miles of the trial. We consider it should be returned to the makers with the complaint mentioned.

16 Road Wheels. - There are loose spokes on the outside of the wheels used on the rear and front axles. The enamel on the two rear wheels is in bad condition. We think that the position and width of the rear wings have had a great deal to do with this.
