Bentley Brakes.

To reduce the sponge in the front brake linkage, which becomes more objectionable with four direct coupled brakes, we send herewith N/Sch.4009 shewing a suggestion for rather more than doubling the stiffness of the brake operating shafts in the front axle, which we understand are one of the principal sources of sponge.

We also send N. Sch.4011, modification to the brake pedal and stem, to increase its rigidity approximately 70%. This is a request of Experimental Department, the present pedal deflecting considerably under the heaviest braking loads.
