Re: Phantom II's.
It looks as if the test of 19-EX. had proceeded sufficiently far to warrant our going on with the manufacture of synchro-mesh gearboxes for production in the ordinary way, instead of merely the limited number which we had previously agreed on.
There is another point which it seems important we should get on production as quickly as possible, which is on 19-EX, and that is the shimmy shackle.
Our steering is frequently criticised very severely and we know the shimmy shackle helps considerably, so that we ought to make an effort to get it on production as soon as possible. I should be glad if you would look into this from the point of view of what it means with and without scrap.
Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}'s memorandum, reference Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}2/MJ22.4.32 set out all the special points on 19-EX. and when I come back from my holiday I propose to visit Derby as soon as possible, and one of the points for consideration will be these items on 19-EX. in relation to production. Some of them are important but some of them can come along in the ordinary way.
