X570 2300 21.3.12 REPORT ON SPECIAL PETROL TANK FITTED TO 1811 CHASSIS (in frame) The petrol tank fitted to the above chassis was in every way satisfactory as far as petrol supply was concerned, but would suggest that the petrol pipe was carried up inside tank instead of on the outside, as in this case any damage to same would mean loss of petrol and might not be found out until too late and the reserve supply required. The ground clearance was a little more than the silencer snout & the tank would be repeatedly hit by stones shot up by the wheels. We should think it would be a good dirt raiser being so near the ground and quite square at the end. See E.p.file 2/12. | ||
