We have read your EFC2/AD.4.9.30, and it would appear that the consideration of the whole speedometer affair is becoming a matter of considerable complication. In spite of many attempts to get the speedometer position into a happier state, we still are in the condition of not knowing quite where we are, and having owners making criticisms of either the speeds they appear to be running at, or the amount of miles shown which they have not run. When I discussed the matter with you in Derby last week we agreed that it was inevitable there should be a scale in which the miles per hour were deliberately compressed, in accordance with the influence which certain considerations had on the whole matter, and I understood that you would arrange to supply the necessary figures shortly, enabling the A.T. Company to print this specially constructed scale. We should like to know that this matter is going ahead now, without any cause for delay, in order that the standard instrument we are so anxiously awaiting may be obtainable at the earliest moment.
