re. VIBRATIONS ON 40/50 AT 20 M.P.H. X634

With reference to the above, which I understand is now having your attention experimentally, I have today received the following from PN{Mr Northey}:-

"Yesterday I tested one of our new stock Open touring cars - chassis No.6-PG.
My general impression of this chassis is that it is pretty good, but I have found some difficulty I believe justified in passing the engine from the point of view of vibration set up when pulling at about 20 m.p.h. which in this case is more objectionable than should be at this date, having regard to compression not being very high. I am not proposing however, to turn the car down because of this, but merely let you know that we are very near the line of demarkation between what is possible and what is not possible in this chassis in respect of engine vibration."

I am quite of the same impression as that expressed by PN{Mr Northey}, but at the same time, cannot undertake with the present standard output to guarantee to turn out chassis which are any more satisfactory in this respect than the one referred to.

I trust therefore you will be in a position to recommend some action to be takenwith the present cars which will overcome this trouble, or to deal with the problem of the Works output not being accepted owing to the chassis not being satisfactory, and which we cannot make better without diverging from the standard design.
