RE FLOORBOARDS OF CHASSIS 8 EX.

With reference to your complaints of squeaks and rattles on the front floorboards of this car we would point out that they were not carried out strictly to our design N.Sch.2001.

It is essential that there should be at least .200in. of clearance between the floorboards on the chassis and those on the body subframe. We noticed that this clearance had not been observed.

With reference to the entrance of hot air into the car it is necessary that the foorboards be a good fit and that the .200in. gap referred to should be filled in with felt as shown in our drawing. The floor must be covered with a sheet of Sorbo Rubber or Parafloor suitably fastened down . The floor-boards must be a good fit around the change speed mechanism and brake lever. We will shortly look into the question and see if we cannot entirely seal up this point. We would be glad if you will have these points corrected before the car goes to France.

We were surprised to hear that water had entered via the scuttle isolation, as we have never had a complaint from this cause on production. The gap on 8EX was not perfectly covered as a result of changing chassis.

We suggest that this can be cured by;-

Seeing that the minimum clearance is not more than .375in.

By moving the lip on the body until the gap is correctly covered.
