We have just taken a series of underbonnet temperatures and water temperatures on 9 B5 car, which is fitted with fixed radiator shutters, and B 60LS car fitted with Thermostatically operated shutters. It will be seen from the attached list of figures that the Thermostatically operated shutters stabilizes the underbonnet temperature at a figure of 7°c higher than that of the fixed shutters, i e:- 40°c as against 33°c. Previous tests on 9B5 have shown us that for correct carburation free from flat spots we require a minimum underbonnet temperature of 40°c. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Wym{G.
