X. 3806 BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} c. to SG.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}3/M27.3.29. CENTRALISED CHASSIS LUBRICATION. With reference to Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Gy3/LG20.3.29., we think the idea of making the cap nut of the Bijur drip plug into a reservoir is quite a good one. It appears to us however that the form of the pieces as shewn on your Z.18 and Z.20. might be improved, and we send herewith N.sch.2863 shewing a proposal for the SS.{S. Smith} and N.sch.2864 a proposal for the 20 HP. R.{Sir Henry Royce} suggested about one cu.in. of capacity for these reservoirs, and we have adhered to that as far as possible. As we do not seem to have details or arrgt. drgs. which shew us exactly what the centralised chassis lubrication is on these parts, either of the SS.{S. Smith} or the 20 HP, we have maintained the proportions you suggest on the assumption that they will be clear, but perhaps Derby would confirm this. DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} | ||
