Dear Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}, Many thanks for memo. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}6/KW.30.II.34. I note your remarks re bumper bars, and have taken up the matter in the right quarters. I have also noted that you do not require the small bumper bar or cross member to be returned yet, and if we can make use of it we are at liberty to do so. The studs that fix this bumper bar to the chassis only allow it to be held by a couple of threads. This does not appear to be very safe, but Leslie informs me that you have ideas in this direction. With regard to the "Rena Stella" Sports Renault, I will send you specifications of all their products so that you can judge for yourself. Needless to say, I have no use for them whatsoever. They fall to pieces, crack up, and do everything that a motor car should not do. The car that had a 'crack' at the Bentley was a 9 litre Sports model. People in France have very little use for Renaults - at least our type of customers. It would have been a 'catastrophe formidable' had I allowed my gentleman to get the upper hand of the Bentley on the said occasion. Yours sincerely, | ||
