x2200 Exptl. Dept. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls}9/KW. 22nd January, 1935. The Borg & Beck Co. Ltd., Tachbrook Road, Leamington Spa, Warwickshire. Dear Sirs, We wrote you a few days ago telling you that so far our tests on the 11" clutch had been satisfactory. This also applies to the tests we have carried out on the 10" clutches you supplied some time ago. There are, however, one or two questions we should like to ask concerning the fitting of these clutches - We notice that no provision is made for spigoting the clutch to the flywheel, and that accuracy of location is got solely by the fixing bolts. So far we have drilled each flywheel to suit the true running position of the clutch. Can you let us know within what limits you will guarantee the clutch to run true if centred off the fixing bolts ? We should also like to know whether the units you supply are balanced or whether that is left to the Makers. In the event of the clutches you ordinarily supply not being balanced, or sufficiently accurately for our requirements when located as you suggest, would you let us know what additional charge you would make for the provision of an outside spigot diameter and accurate balancing of the unit. Can you also let us know whether you have experienced any trouble of ridges forming on the pressure plate or pressed steel cover, which in time will prevent the clutch from fully engaging if the clutch pedal is released when the engine throttle is partly or fully open. Yours faithfully, | ||
