Another very important point is the fact that with proprietary articles we have always found that it takes a longer time before we can get outside people to supply us with a consistent quality of goods, for instance, we are always in constant communication with the Watford Magneto people and the Lucas people as regards faults on their machines and as a result of that there is no doubt that the machines we are receiving from them now are very much better in many ways than the machines they supplied for the first cars which we made and there is no doubt that the machines we shall be receiving in six months time will be better than those we are receiving today. If Springfield use the same type of parts as we use at Derby they would receive the advantage of this gradual improvement of these parts. Springfield are asking now to order Bijur Generators immediately. We believe their programme is that they will be delivering cars in May 1921, in any case if they only order 250 dynamos it is certain that it will be much over 12 months before those generators get into customers hands. By that time we consider that we shall have made quite a considerable advance over the present Lucas Generator or we may be in a position to make our own dynamos. It is no argument because the Bijur Generator has been used on other cars that it will suit us; Lucas Generators are used on a very great number of chassis in England yet, it is only from us that they receive complaints as regards the noise Contd. | ||
