X3790 To Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} for Mr Warwick. BY/Shn4/ML17.1.21. c.c. to D.A. [struck through] X3476 RE 40/50 CHASSIS - RADIATOR MASCOT. With reference to your memo Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/TMWl/LG17.1.21, re the depth of the tapping in the mascot base, we have no record of a deeper foot than shown on our blueprint E.18328 (N.2618). We have, however, been compelled to instruct special studs with .375 Whitworth thread to suit the batch of Mascots delivered with this thread instead of the fine one (20 T.P.I) shown on our drawing. It would appear from examination of the Mascot that the hole could be tapped deeper without breaking through the foot, and Mr Bailey offers a suggestion that stainless steel may be tried in place of drawn phosphor bronze for the Stud E.18323.
