TESTING OF RATIONALISED PARTS.

In view of the general desire expressed at the last Chassis Conference to make sure of the reliability of the rationalised chassis parts before embarking on an extensive production programme, we are proposing to expedite our testing programme.

The following is the proposed outline of road running:-

Cars which will go to France before the end of June:-

(1) 14-B-V.{VIENNA} Corniche.

(2) 30-G-VII. Silver Phantom.

If the Coupe is not ready in time, we also hope to hand over to Mr. 8.E.V. until 10.E.V. is released.

We expect to send the following cars to France before the end of July:-

(1) 12-B-Y. This will be a Ripple in every respect, except for the radiator. It is also fitted with a lightened type Park Ward all-steel body, for which we are anxious to get a durability factor.

(2) 3.b.50. This will be exactly a Silver Dawn chassis with the exception of the radiator, and will be the first Continental test of a cast iron 6-cylinder engine.

We anticipate that before we can finally clear the whole of the rationalised material for the 1940 Motor Show, it will be desirable to send a second car over to the Continent with an 8-cylinder high-power engine, and we expect that this car will be the Cresta.
