HANTS.

Dear Howlett,

Confirming our telephone conversation today, I hope to arrive with Mr. Hives at your house about 5 p.m. on Friday next, December 8th. It is very good of you to offer to put us up on Friday and Saturday night.

I am looking forward to a day in the country with great anticipation as they have been few and far between this year.

With regard to the bearing job, I confirm that the strip people can produce a set of big end bearings for rather less than £1 and that we are prepared to pay this amount for aluminium-tin bearings. As a matter of fact, we have now deleted the flange from our big end bearing and I find that you had an obsolete drawing. This should reduce the price somewhat.

I am very glad you are having a go at Ford's. If you really could compete with the strip people on price, I believe that you could get most of the business worth having in the country.

The whole job seems to me to be bound up in the method of casting the bearing. Obviously, if there is a big wastage on risers etc. the price will suffer.

Yours sincerely,

Drawing to follow.
