X4260 RE "GOSHAWK II" FRAMES.

These frames should be on order, but I am not clear yet that we have settled what material is to be used. I am inclined to leave it to Mr. Hall's investigation. Anyway, one feels certain that a well selected carbon steel with the best proportions of carbon, manganese, and silicon heat treated would give as great satisfaction as the nickel or nickel chromium steel.

Personally, I should like to use a steel somewhat lower in carbon, but exactly like the analysis of the spring steel which has been sent from America in the springs we have tested and found to be so extremely good. This is a carbon manganese and silicon steel.
