The gland was not adjusted and no leaks occurred during the mileage. This packing is a good thing. WATER CONNECTIONS. LOP. EB.682. Klingerite Washer Joints. No leaks occurred from the Klingerite joints. TECALEMIT FILTER. LOP. E.87984. LEC.4692. Ph.III type with felt element. Trouble was experienced due to vibration of the filter relative to the engine causing fracture of both top and bottom oil pipes. The special steel pipes supplied for 6.B.IV. were used after this car had returned to England, and no further trouble was experienced. The filter collected a large amount of sludge. WIRE FITTINGS. LOP. EB.2738. Helsby cable used for ignition wires. Misfiring due to breakdown of the insulation of the plug leads and sparking in the conduits was experienced after 8,500 miles. New cable was obtained from Paris Depot and fitted. [Handwritten note left margin] Wyman. What suspension are we using on the next run. EXHAUST FITTINGS. LOP. EB.2828. Existing Manifolds re-fitted. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}74 Manifold. Standard Downtake Front Box & 1st Silencer in S/M.{Mr Moon / Mr Moore} Aluminised lagged with 24 SWG. SM. nickled. Standard Rear Box. Spun filled Tail Pipe. The collar between the downtake pipe and front expansion box, fractured after 4,700 miles. A new alumin-ised front expansion box was sent out and fitted at the same place after a further 3,500 miles running. The system was quiet and satisfactory in other respects. FAN. LOP. EB.189.
