300b. To E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} from Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Les.{Ivan A. Leslie} c. to Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Les.22/AP.17.12.36. PHANTOM III. CONTINENTAL REAR SPRINGS. In order to use some existing Phantom II. Continental rear springs, we should like a design for a rear spring front end anchorage bracket having a lowered eye, so that a central front eye can be used on the spring. The springs in existence are:- F.84582 Value £132. F.84654 Value £342. We see no reason why Phantom II. springs should not always be used for Continental Ph.III., providing the rear brake geometry is satisfactory. There will be no need for rubber shackles on Continental Ph.III. The Phantom II. Continental springs have .800" less initial deflection - a pair is 48 lbs. less heavy and the saving in cost per chassis is £1. 8. 6d. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Les.{Ivan A. Leslie} | ||
