re: chassis 15-EX - Rolls Royce Experimental car

I am writing to give you an idea of the condition of this car after the accident, in case C.W.B. has not been able to do so.

The body has broken off behind the front seats, and this part is in several pieces, totally destroyed. One can safely say the body is entirely destroyed and totally beyond repair, and of very small value even for salvage purposes.

The rear axle has been torn from the chassis, the outer sphere having broken away. The axle tubes and Torque tubes are badly twisted; the tank has been ripped off and has several holes in it (scrap). Both side members of the chassis towards the rear portion are bent side ways and are probably beyond repair.

The front axle, steering, engine, radiator, appear to be undamaged. In fact one could say that everything forward of the driver's seat appears undamaged with the exception of windscreen and minor damage.

The gear box may be OK but the wrench from the rear axle may have bent the 3rd motion shaft.

The chassis which could be towed, if hitched up at the back, is in the garage Citroen at Amiens, and a lorry load of bits which includes the tank, rear axle, wings, etc. etc. is in the garage Renault.

We are holding up instructions concerning the removal of these parts until such time as you decide how and when you would like them returned to Works.

At first we thought we should have difficulties with the Customs, if sent direct to Boulogne but now we think that with a little influence, all the Customs formalities could be arranged at Boulogne and the remains put on rail at Amiens for Boulogne and shipped by rail from Folkestone to Derby.

Do you agree to this procedure, or have you any desire for the chassis to remain at Amiens for the moment, from an Insurance point of view.
