X 3612 Wd {Mr Wood / Mr Whitehead} 7/NJ6.8.20. Gleason Bevel Gears. With reference to yours EWT11/G5.8.20, I would remind you that you have a copy of the letter ref.- Wd {Mr Wood / Mr Whitehead} 10/NJ19720, which we addressed to R.R.of A.Inc. on the 19th ult. In said letter we stated that we considered it essential that the 15 sets of bevels and pinions, which we had been informed were ready, should be tested out here before the remainder of the 500 sets for Derby are taken in hand and I confirm this. According to the letter which R.R.of A.Inc. addressed to CJ. on the 22nd ult. the Gleason Works are proceeding to cut the remainder of the gears, which is not in accordance with our wishes. I shall be pleased to learn what action you propose to take in the matter. I would further draw your attention to the fact that R.R.of A.Inc. have not yet quoted us a definite price for these gears and we have not sent them a formal order for said gears. We should prefer to test out the first nine sets of gears, which should now be on the way to us, before sending our formal order to R.R.of A.Inc. and we should also like to know definitely what the price is.
