Re: 25/30 HP, - Rear Axles. There are quite a number of complaints from Owners regarding a squeak from the axle, chiefly when cold. This is caused by a slight wear taking place in the pinion bearing which allows the pinion shaft to rub on the end of the nose piece. The nose piece contains the felt washer for the oil trap. It is the outer portion of this nose piece which rubs. It is cured by increasing by machining this diameter approximately .010". If the original diameter was increased by approximately this amount on production the trouble would probably cease. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/GWH.{George W.
