1021 5th August, 1941. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/EAG.1/RH.{R. Hollingworth} C.W. Ward Esq., Messrs. Park Ward Ltd., 473, High Road, Willesden, L O N D O N. N.W.10. Dear Mr. Ward, You will undoubtedly remember that I told you that Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} had complained that the front seats on the Bentley V.{VIENNA} which he is using, were uncomfortable. We have since had it in here for attention, and found that to get the front seats at all comfortable, new spring cases had to be fitted. We tried webbing the centre of the seat base with very little improvement. The spring cases that were taken out, were badly mutilated, evidently through someone making alterations. We have asked Lace Webb to put them on one side in case you might want to see them. The rear seat also had to be altered. The trouble was that excessive heat came through the exhaust. This was overcome by raising the seat pan in the body and fitting an aluminium and asbestos shield over the exhaust. I think that some improvement could be made to the rear cushion. At present, when a passenger is sitting in the back seat, there is a big gap between the bottom of the squab and cushion. This is a matter that I can explain to you when I next see you. I should like to come up and see you next Thursday or Friday. Will you please let me know which day is convenient. I should leave Derby on the 9.7 a.m. train, arriving at St.{Capt. P. R. Strong} Pancras at 12.23 p.m. Yours sincerely, | ||
