In order to reduce the troubles of squeaking brakes we have standardised a moulded asbestos brake lining instead of the woven lining which we have previously been using. This moulded lining has the added advantage that it does not score the brake drums. As it is softer, however, it wears rather more rapidly than Ferodo bonded asbestos. In consequence of this it is possible that people who habitually drive on their brakes, may complain that their pedal travel increases too rapidly.

In order to overcome this objection the brake leverage has been modified slightly in order to reduce the pedal travel for a given amount of wear on the brake shoes.

The parts in question are the servo cam levers and the lever at the inner side of the foot brake counter shaft.

The piece numbers in question are:-
G.77583 Servo Act. Lever (inner).
G.77584 " " " (outer).
G.78098 Servo camshaft.
G.77414 Countershaft Lever.
