OUR REF. SR/MHR.{M. H. Rigby}

26th January 1927.

Dear Sirs,

With further reference to your letter of the 20th, we have now made the experiments as promised. We tested the 2 Apparatus which you gave to the writer, using 3" of Mercury, (suction) lifting petrol /32" through 6 ft. of 1/4" bore tubing. The experimental Model which you have marked No. 1 in your letter delivered 8 gallons per our and No. 2 gave 7.05 gallons per hour.

We have taken the Apparatus to pieces and find that the only difference between these is that on experimental Model the suction valve hole was .116" and the air valve hole was .116". On No. 2. Apparatus the suction valve hole was .100" and the air valve .116". We have made an alteration to No. 2 Apparatus and the results are shown on enclosed sheet.

We are sending under separate cover to-day an AUTOVAC marked No. 4 on the list, from which we obtained the best results, and shall be pleased to have your remarks in due course. We are also sending a strainer which was taken off one of our Director's Rolls-Royce cars, after he had experienced a great deal of trouble due to shortage of petrol on the road. We have soldered a piece of copper tube on to same so as to try what quantity of petrol is passed by gravity. We found that it took 13 minutes to pass one gill of petrol.

Yours faithfully,
For AUTOVAC MFTG. CO. LTD.
