We duly received your recent letter regarding the Constant Voltage Regulator Unit, and we are very sorry indeed if you feel we are not keeping you up to date with regard to developments concerning Compensated Voltage Control equipment. Actually it is not possible to apply the arrangement described in the "Autocar" of September 20th. to the Cylinder type of Double Contact Regulator that you use. You will appreciate that it is not really possible with this type, to get at the series winding in order to split it into two parts. As you well know, we have another pattern regulator with a single contact and it is this type that has been modified and improved on the lines of the description mentioned above. This type however we do not recommend for use with 4-pole dynamos and we ourselves are using it only with 2-pole machines. We note your views as regards various improvements and perhaps when you are next in Birmingham, we had better have an interchange of views on the subject. Yours faithfully, JOSEPH LUCAS, LIMITED. W.
