(No.13) When the above car returns from its test in London traffic and prior to going out to France for the 15,000 miles test, will you please carry out the following modifications. We are sending this memo now in order that you may prepare the parts in readiness. (1) A.side head to be removed and modified in accordance with E/PSn/AHF.I/M.29.5.37 which includes - (a) Rs.{Sir Henry Royce's Secretary}540 valve springs which will be supplied by Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Swdl.{Len H. Swindell} (b) Rs.{Sir Henry Royce's Secretary}541 valve spring washer. (c) Valve guides E.88705 (note that inlet valve diametrical clearance in the guides should be .0015-.002 (exhaust std. .003 - .004.) B.side Head Nos. 1 - 6 valve springs to Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}260. Nos. 7 - 12 valve springs to EB.3256 and these springs to be supplied by Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Swdl.{Len H. Swindell} The above only necessitates changeover of existing springs.
