CHASSIS - re BRAKE SEIZURE. ----------------------------------- We are definitely of the opinion that the brake seizures we have had recently on the 20/25 are the outcome of the introduction of the synchromesh gear, which results in faster driving and greater use of the brake. To overcome this we are at the moment engaged in producing a forged steel shoe which will not expand faster than the drum, and should therefore cut this trouble out entirely. fairly We are quite satisfied, and we are certain that the Experimental Department agree with us in this, that the seizures have nothing to do with the outboard bearing in the brake drum, as these are cleared away sufficiently to prevent any seizing, and if they seized they would not cause trouble of the description we are having at the moment.
