Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}3/MJ.10.4.34.

Before you went away we arranged that you would send in the report on the 10,000 miles on 4-B-LV from France. We should be glad to have this as soon as you can because Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} is asking for it.

We are concerned about the fouling of the universal joints. We are carrying out some work on the dynamometer here so that we can observe what happens. The observations so far show that with a steady torque there is no appreciable difference in the axle movement between the minimum and maximum damping position. When the clutch is let in suddenly, however, there appears to be a difference.

We should like you to be very sure of your facts that the damping control is the chief factor in the cause of this trouble. (Personally, I rather doubt this) even if the car is held up for a day or more to get the answer.

We should also like to know what temperature you are registering under the bonnet that causes the petrol pumps to cease working and any investigation on this point would be helpful.

We are glad to see that you are dismantling the engine to try and find the cuase of the high oil consumption.

Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}
