THERMOMETER.

Referring to scheme 625, made to our instructions in Derby, and of which DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} has already sent you a blueprint in connection with controls, we should like to point out the following proposed modifications shewn therein :-

(1) The thermometer tube is provided with 2 coils with a straight length between so that the bulb can be withdrawn without damaging the tube when it is desired to remove the cylinder head or the engine.

(2) The thermometer tube is stepped back towards the dash by means of the coils so as not to interfere with the removal of the valve gear cover.

(3) The coils are of such a size relative to the cover hole in the dashboard that they can be passed through the dash without bending the tube.

(4) The rear end of the ignition wire tube shortened, and the magneto wire carrier stood out on aluminium or bakelite distance pieces so as to get the wiring sufficiently clear of the thermometer.
This also has the advantages of making the ignition wire tube symmetrical end for end, and of being more convenient for the magneto wire and other wiring nearby.

(5) The removal of the terminal post to a position near the magneto wire carrier and out of the way of the thermometer.

E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer}
