Ph.III Steering.

The rockershaft with increased torsional stiffness which you fitted recently to 35.EX. has given the greatest improvement we have so far obtained on Ph.III steering.

It is proposed to standardise this on the first 50 cars in a modified form as shown on NSch.4711 which has just been issued.

Will you please construct as soon as possible 3 sets of parts to the above scheme.

We wish the steering of 32.EX, the next 10,000 mile test car, to be identical to that of the first 50 production cars.

Will you please alter its specification to conform to the following:-

(1) Cams with 0.800 lead, 0.005 crowning and Adamant type bearings to be obtained from production above.

(2) Roller to suit above with Adamant type bearings to be obtained from production.

(3) All modifications on NSch.4711 to be incorporated.

(4) Steering wheel and controls to be as for the first 50 cars, i.e. the latest type of 3 spoke Steering Wheel F.88187 and needle bearing type column. We will send you particulars of the amount of set up load required at a later date.
