446. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Les.9/MH.{M. Huckerby} 15th. March 1938. Messrs. Thos. Firth & John Brown Ltd., Atlas & Norfolk Works, SHEFFIELD, 1. For the attention of Mr.Porter. Dear Sirs, We are returning a pair of Bentley springs FB.3317 which we should like you to modify to carry a load of 1000 lbs. As we are wanting to try some softer springs to replace FB.3317, will you please produce a drawing for us of a 1000.lbs. spring having 5 1/2" from free to loaded camber. We should like the stresses to be kept as high as those in FB.3317. The springs to be increased in poundage are being despatched by passenger train to-night, we are urgently requiring these for the week-end. Can you arrange for them to be on your lorry on Saturday ? Yours faithfully, for ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
