We received your wire: BRING CAR BACK AS SOON AS POSSIBLE VOUCHER SENT OFF TONIGHT - HIVES also EXHAUST SYSTEM LEAVE LONDON TONIGHT MAIL EXPRESS VIA GENERAL TRANSPORT CASE 9842 - ROYCAR We phoned last night to the General Transport Co. to stop this case coming over. This morning we sent you the following telegram: REPAIRING ENGINE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE - HANCOCK case The engine is badly broken at the rear and requires some patching before we can run. The gallery oil pipe feeding the rear bearing we are having to cut out, as we can not make it oil tight, so we are feeding the oil to the bearing through the crankshaft, have stopped up the gallery pipe feed. We have taken the broken rod off, and are taking out the two push rods on number six, so that we can run on five cylinders. We have been able to finish the patching and built the engine up this morning. Roberts and Pattinson are leaving after lunch with the car, taking it steady down to Boulogne. If everything goes right they will cross over Wednesday. G.H.Hancock G.W.H. | ||
